Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $40,000 – $45,000 (Starting Range)

The Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA) is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to support its Legal Department located in Tallahassee, Florida.

The PBA’s legal mission is to provide legal representation and assistance to law enforcement officers involved in disciplinary actions (suspensions, demotions, dismissals) that may eventually lead to arbitration; cases or inquiries brought in front of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC); and duty-related incidents that may have caused bodily harm to another individual.

Basic Qualifications:

• Prior experience working in a legal office as a legal assistant (preferred, not required)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, computer skills, and have the aptitude to learn new software.
• Experience in drafting legal documents.
• Strong time management and ability to meet filing deadlines

• Professional and courteous communication skills
• Knowledge of preparing court pleadings and correspondence.
• Skilled at organization and the ability to work independent or close supervision.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where attention to detail is crucial.
• Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
