Legal Assistant

Brownwood, United States

Job Overview
iTeam Legal Solutions is hiring a detail-driven, tech-savvy teammate to keep our post-conviction and family/civil matters moving with speed and precision. You’ll sit at the center of our operations—coordinating case workflows, communicating with clients and sponsors, organizing records, and making sure deadlines never slip. You’ll use modern tools (Clio, Office computer tools, and AI-powered tools) to track tasks, prep status updates, draft routine letters, and maintain clean, audit-ready files. The right person is calm under pressure, obsessed with accuracy, comfortable learning new software fast, and confident speaking with clients who need clear, empathetic guidance. If you love turning chaos into checklists, closing loops, and leveling up processes, you’ll thrive here. This role has growth tracks into Case Management, Client Success, or Operations Leadership based on performance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and format firm-standard letters, pleadings, motions, and briefs for attorney review.
  • Run targeted legal research (Lexis / Westlaw) and summarize findings into action-ready briefs.
  • Maintain airtight case files in Clio and LexTrack Manager (naming, versions, indexes).
  • Own calendar control: schedule hearings, deadlines, and client/sponsor touchpoints with zero slippage.
  • Interview clients, sponsors, and witnesses; verify facts, cause numbers, and TDCJ unit details.
  • Proofread all filings for accuracy, citations, exhibits, and compliance with court/agency rules.
  • Manage e-filings (eFileTexas) and agency submissions (DA/CIU/TDCJ); log receipts and follow-ups.
  • Protect confidentiality and handle sensitive records per firm policy and legal requirements.
  • Perform precise data entry, document prep, and admin support to keep matters moving fast.
  • Track payments, record costs, and sponsor add-ons; generate clean monthly summaries.

Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and case management software (Clio, MyCase, LexTrack Manager).
  • Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with various areas of law, including criminal law, family law, Small Claims procedures, civil lawsuits, personal injury law, Judicial system and post conviction matters, e-filing, Jail and prison system, and file case management.
  • Experience in document review, filing, and data entry within a law office setting.
  • Strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Join us in providing exceptional legal services while advancing your career in a supportive atmosphere that values professional growth.
