We are a mid-size law firm located in Eugene, Oregon with a healthy office culture, seeking an experienced legal assistant to join our exemplary team. Our firm focuses on the practice areas of real property, business law, estate planning, civil litigation, and domestic relations.

We are looking for a high caliber, full-time Legal Assistant who takes pride in their work and is experienced in litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to attorneys.
  • Organize and maintain case files electronically.
  • Prepare legal documents such as complaints, motions, subpoenas, deposition notices, exhibits, and trial documents.
  • Proofread, edit, and finalize legal documents.
  • File pleadings and other legal documents with state and federal courts.
  • Draft outgoing discovery and prepare responses to incoming discovery under attorney supervision.
  • Monitor deadlines and maintain attorney calendars.
  • Schedule appointments, court appearances, depositions, and mediations/arbitrations.
  • Serve as a liaison between the client and attorney.
  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices etc.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience as a legal assistant.
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology and legal procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal and state court rules and e-filing procedures.
  • Familiarity with document and case management software systems, Clio a plus.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation usage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to be flexible to adapt and act quickly when urgent matters require it.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and use own judgment in decision making on how to meet all deadlines adequately and efficiently.
  • Ability to take the initiative in handling projects and anticipating what needs to be done.
  • High degree of professionalism and dependability.

Salary will be based on years of experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
