Legal Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our litigation team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various areas of law, specifically personal injury law and insurance defense. This role is essential in providing comprehensive support to attorneys, and other support staff members ensuring the efficient management of legal documents and cases. We are seeking someone with at least 3 years of legal experience in a litigation law firm.

Duties

• Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Manage and organize case files.
• File pleadings electronically with different courts both State and Federal.
• Maintain calendars and deadlines.
• Proofread legal documents for accuracy and compliance with local rules.
• Perform clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, scheduling depositions and filing documents.
• Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in cases to gather information and provide updates.
• Support attorneys and help with trial preparation by organizing exhibits and preparing trial binders.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of local rules, filing pleadings and working in a legal environment.
• Proficiency in managing documents, pleadings, and investigative materials.
• Excellent proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
• Prior experience in a legal setting is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to work independently and execute tasks and assignments.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.50 per hour
