Position Summary – This position is responsible for supporting the legal program, which helps ACC’s clients in obtaining asylum, parole, work permits, residency, and other immigration benefits. Your main focus will be on coordinating legal appointments, collecting and organizing needed documents, serving as a liaison between organizations and clients, utilizing interpreters to communicate with clients, providing data keeping and filing, and preparing fund requests as needed. Flexibility, organization, ability to multitask, ability to take direction, and good people skills are key to succeeding in this position. Native Spanish speaker desired. Spanish fluency a must.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Coordination
- Screen potential clients to ensure they meet program eligibility criteria prior to scheduling.
- Schedule legal appointments in coordination with attorneys and DOJ Representatives.
- Foster communication with clients in person and via telephone, using interpreters as necessary.
- Provide clear and defined instructions to clients regarding appointments and legal services.
- Schedule live interpreters for legal appointments. Assist with tracking time and arranging for payments.
- Check in regularly with clients to share progress on cases on behalf of attorneys and DOJ representatives.
- Manage and respond to calls, texts, and emails from clients in a timely manner.
- Create and share useful documents on behalf of the organization.
Data Keeping
- Track all client appointments made, kept, and needed in the future.
- Input case notes into Salesforce data tracking system and a legal case management system for each appointment, phone call, document received, etc.
- Input information into Salesforce and spreadsheets for reporting purposes.
- Track budget spending and create fund requests.
- Provide data to manager and finance office as needed.
- Copy, scan, and upload legal documents to online case management systems.
- Prepare and print USPS labels for legal applications mailed to USCIS.
Other Duties
- Assist attorneys and DOJ representatives with legal application preparation.
- Provide real-time interpretation in shared language as able and needed.
- As program is further developed, new duties will be determined and introduced.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), currently enrolled in higher education, or equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.
- Fluency in Spanish required. In addition to Spanish, other refugee languages welcome.
- Self-directed, motivated and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, required.
- Excellent organizational skills, required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required.
- Negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Proficient with or able to quickly learn various computer and web applications including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and a legal case management system.
- General knowledge of refugee resettlement practices in the U.S., preferred.
- Experience working in a nonprofit or legal services, preferred.
- Must have a driver’s license, a good driving record and access to own transportation, willing to occasionally transport clients.

- All employees must submit proof of identity and their legal authorization to work in the United States. (If a prospective employee fails to submit this proof of work authorization, federal law prohibits ECDC from hiring the person.)
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is primarily done in office, but will be able to occasionally be done remotely.
- Travel around the Denver Metro area to provide services and attend meetings is expected.
- Hours outside of regular operating office hours required on occasion.
