LEGAL ASSISTANT

JOB SUMMARY

Mid-size law firm in Lowell, MA specializing in secured creditor representation, residential real estate and default matters throughout New England, is seeking a self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and organized individual to process 1st Legal foreclosure files. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting key foreclosure documents including but not limited to fair debt letters, mortgagee’s affidavits, assignments, acceleration letters, and complaints necessary to complete the first legal process. This role also requires requesting and tracking all necessary documents before and after attorney title review, including but not limited to Statutory Demands, Client‑Executed Assignments, and Payment Histories.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience in a law firm, processing real estate foreclosures collections, communicating with clients using email, phone, and client systems, while effectively managing deadlines and keeping all systems updated daily.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Draft time‑sensitive, template‑based legal documents, including foreclosure notices and affidavits.
  • Request, track, and follow up on documents needed before and after attorney title review.
  • Accurately update internal systems and multiple client platforms.
  • Support all processing functions for foreclosure files.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and internal teams via phone, email, and client portals.
  • Prioritize multiple deadlines and manage a high‑volume workload with accuracy.
  • Contribute to team goals by completing assigned tasks promptly and thoroughly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Experience in a law office required. Secured creditor representation in residential real estate and default matters preferred.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • High accuracy when working with large volumes of information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional client service approach.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to learn additional software platforms.
  • Adaptability to changing processes and increased automation.
  • 10‑key touch proficiency.
  • High school diploma required.

CONDITIONS OF WORK

  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to work the agreed-upon weekly schedule.
  • Ability to work on a computer for most of the workday.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
