Legal Assistant

<Job Overview>
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. In this role, you will provide essential support across a broad spectrum of legal practice areas, ensuring smooth operations and efficient case management. Your proactive approach and strong organizational skills will help facilitate legal research, document preparation, and administrative functions, enabling our attorneys to deliver exceptional service to clients. <Responsibilities>

  • Assist with legal research using platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case development across various practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, family law, and securities law.
  • Prepare, review, and proofread legal documents, contracts, pleadings, and correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
  • Manage legal case files and document management systems such as iManage and PCLaw, ensuring all records are organized, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
  • Conduct thorough document review and data entry for case files, discovery materials, and court filings while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support attorneys with administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, coordinating meetings, and handling phone etiquette professionally.
  • Perform legal research on topics such as UCC law (Uniform Commercial Code), tribal regulations, patent law, workers’ compensation law, personal injury law, landlord-tenant law, immigration law, and more.
  • Assist in preparing for litigation by organizing case materials, drafting reports or summaries, and transcribing depositions or interviews as needed.

<Qualifications>

  • Proven paralegal experience or prior legal administrative experience demonstrating familiarity with law office procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, workers’ compensation law, personal injury law, landlord-tenant law, immigration law, and litigation processes.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw; experience with document management systems like iManage is highly desirable.
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; keen proofreading abilities to ensure accuracy.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective interviewing skills for gathering information from clients or witnesses when necessary.
  • Familiarity with project management principles to coordinate tasks across different cases or practice areas.
  • Strong clerical skills including data entry, filing systems, phone etiquette, and administrative support functions such as scheduling and document review.
