Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. Duties
- Assist attorneys with legal case management by organizing and maintaining case files using document management systems such as iManage and PCLaw
- Conduct comprehensive legal research utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal databases to support ongoing cases across various practice areas
- Draft, proofread, and review legal documents including contracts, pleadings, memoranda, and correspondence with precision and clarity
- Perform document review and data entry tasks accurately to ensure compliance with case requirements and deadlines
- Support litigation processes through document management, filing, transcription, and proofreading of legal materials
- Coordinate client interviews and gather pertinent information through effective interviewing techniques
- Manage administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, handling phone etiquette professionally, and organizing files efficiently
- Assist in preparing reports and summaries related to estate planning, landlord-tenant issues, workers' compensation claims, personal injury cases, securities transactions, tribal regulations, patent filings, and other legal matters
Requirements
- Paralegal experience or prior legal administrative experience demonstrating familiarity with law office operations
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence with attention to detail
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis; experience with iManage or Document Management Systems is preferred
- Knowledge of various practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, UCC law (Uniform Commercial Code), and litigation processes
- Experience with legal case management software like PCLaw or similar platforms is advantageous
- Strong clerical skills including filing, data entry, proofreading, transcription and document review
- Excellent phone etiquette combined with professional communication skills
- Ability to perform data entry accurately while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
