Overview

Stroud, Willink & Howard, LLC, a law firm located on the Capitol Square, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to support our legal team across a variety of practice areas, including business law, real estate, litigation, and more. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent research abilities, and experience with legal documentation and case management systems. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic law office environment, providing essential administrative and legal support to attorneys and clients alike.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Manage case files using document management systems.
  • Conduct document review, proofreading, transcription, and data entry to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform administrative duties including filing, scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling phone etiquette professionally.
  • Assist with client calls and emails and maintain effective communication with clients regarding case status updates.
  • Support project management tasks related to ongoing cases or firm initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with legal standards and firm policies.

Skills

  • Proven experience in legal administrative support or as a legal assistant in various practice areas.
  • Familiarity with legal case management software; experience with document management systems is preferred.
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
  • Proficiency in proofreading.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high organizational standards.
  • Experience with legal drafting, document review, data entry, filing systems, and clerical tasks within a law office setting.
  • Strong organizational skills combined with effective phone etiquette and professional communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of legal procedures across various practice areas is a plus.
  • Technical aptitude and proficiency utilizing MS Office Suite.
  • Apply critical thinking and sound judgement to set priorities, meet deadlines, make decisions, and independently resolve issues.
  • Possess a positive attitude, high energy, and a strong passion for your work.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
