Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dedicated legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support a wide range of legal functions across various practice areas, including estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, and more. The ideal candidate will be energized by managing complex legal documentation, conducting thorough research, and providing exceptional administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of our law office. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with legal case management, including organizing and maintaining case files using document management systems such as iManage and PCLaw
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case development across diverse practice areas like patent law, tribal law, workers' compensation law, and personal injury law
  • Draft and proofread legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, memos, and correspondence with precision and clarity
  • Review and analyze legal documents for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Manage calendar deadlines for filings, court appearances, and client meetings to ensure timely submissions
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, filing, transcription, phone etiquette, and organizational tasks to streamline office operations
  • Support attorneys in client interviews and document review processes to gather pertinent information efficiently

Requirements

  • Paralegal experience or equivalent legal administrative experience in a law office setting
  • Strong knowledge of various practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, UCC law (Uniform Commercial Code), immigration law, landlord-tenant law, patent law, tribal regulations, and workers' compensation law
  • Proficiency with legal research platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis
  • Familiarity with document management systems like Word Perfect or Microsoft Word
  • Excellent writing skills with attention to detail in drafting and proofreading legal documents
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Effective interviewing skills for client interactions and fact gathering
  • Proficiency in data entry, filing systems, and clerical tasks within a busy legal environment
  • Outstanding phone etiquette and professional communication skills
