Join our dynamic legal team as a dedicated Legal Assistant, where your organizational skills and legal expertise will support a range of practice areas including criminal defense, family law, and personal injury. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with the attorney, manage complex legal documents, and contribute to impactful cases. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our law office and delivering exceptional service to clients.

Duties

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorney, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings.
  • Assist with legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to gather relevant case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents.
  • Prepare and review legal documents including contracts, pleadings, discovery materials, and correspondence with precision in proofreading and legal drafting.
  • Manage case files using document management system Mycase; ensure all documents are organized, updated, and properly filed both electronically and physically.
  • Conduct document review and data entry for case management systems; assist with document review processes for litigation or transactional matters.
  • Support the attorney with client interviews by preparing questions and documenting responses accurately.
  • Handle routine clerical tasks such as phone etiquette, filing, transcription, and maintaining organized records to streamline office operations.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience in a law office setting.
  • Proven paralegal experience or legal administrative experience supporting multiple practice areas such as criminal law, family law, or personal injury.
  • Strong research skills utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research platforms; ability to synthesize information clearly.
  • Familiarity with legal case management software including Mycase; experience with document review and management systems is highly desirable.
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; keen proofreading abilities to ensure accuracy.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with project management in a law office setting; capable of handling multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including professional phone etiquette and effective communication with clients and team members. Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
