Under the supervision of the Office Coordinator, provides a wide variety of coordination activities, both technical and administrative, to assist the office and attorneys. Manages documents for case files within the Office of the Public Defender. Activities are varied and complex, often performed under limited supervision, and require creativity and independent judgment. A primary responsibility will be interaction with clients, attorneys, courts, investigators and law enforcement.
This is a full-time, benefitted position working Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Office of the Public Defender at 12185 James St, Holland, MI 49424.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
High school diploma required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related area preferred. A minimum of two years experience in a criminal justice system or similar legal setting. Must be skilled in the use of MS Word and MS Excel. Must be able to learn defenderData, the case management system, and Onbase. Previous experience at the Legal Assistant I level preferred, but not required.
