Join our dynamic legal team as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal, where you will play a vital role in supporting diverse legal practices and ensuring the smooth operation of our law office. Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case development across various practice areas such as UCC law, tribal law, patent law, and workers’ compensation law.
- Prepare and review legal documents including contracts, pleadings, discovery materials, and correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
- Manage case files and document management systems like iManage to ensure accurate and efficient retrieval of case information.
- Conduct thorough document review and proofreading to maintain high-quality standards in all legal communications.
- Support project management tasks by coordinating deadlines, scheduling meetings, and maintaining calendars for multiple attorneys.
- Perform administrative duties such as data entry, filing, organizing client records, and managing incoming calls with professionalism and courtesy.
- Conduct interviews with clients or witnesses when necessary to gather pertinent information for cases involving family law, personal injury law, or landlord-tenant disputes.
- Assist with litigation preparation by organizing exhibits, drafting reports, and transcribing audio or video evidence when needed.
- Support legal administrative functions including billing entry in PCLaw or similar systems and maintaining compliance with firm policies on confidentiality and data security.
Qualifications
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; proofreading and transcription abilities are essential.
- Effective interviewing skills for client interactions or witness statements when necessary.
- Familiarity with document review processes and contract management procedures.
- Exceptional clerical experience including filing systems, data entry accuracy, phone etiquette, and administrative support within a busy law office environment.
