Legal Assistant/Secretary

Our growing law firm is seeking a FULL TIME, highly motivated, very positive, competent, and skilled LEGAL ASSISTANT / SECRETARY to fill a long-term career position. This individual must be confident, self-motivated, detail-oriented, invested in his/her career with highly developed people skills, and a go-getter attitude. A strong work ethic and attention to detail are required. Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure is a must.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Professionally interact with potential new clients, active and former clients, adjusters, physician staff, opposing counsel, and Court personnel

· Perform intake screening for potential new clients

· Professionally communicate with client regarding case status, upcoming Court appearances, medical treatments, etc.

· Opening and closing case files

· Organizing and maintaining electronic case files

· Request medical records and bills and follow-up on requests

· Review and synopsize medical records

· Excellent grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills are required for accurate and timely transcriptions and document production

· Ability to handle electronic filing and legal document production such as pleadings and correspondence under the guidance of an attorney

· Coordinate and prepare all Notices of Hearings, Depositions, Mediations, etc., under the guidance of an attorney

· Maintain and manage all aspects of litigation calendar and database management systems

· Planning and scheduling meetings and appointments

· Monitor all deadlines

· Maintain and preserve important legal documents, including scanning and indexing in case management software

· All general clerical functions

· Ability to collaborate and contribute as a team member

· Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance

Education and Experience Requirements:

· Requires a college degree

· Previous experience as a Legal Assistant and/or Legal Secretary is preferred but not required

· Legal studies certification is a plus but not required

· Must have a minimum typing speed of 65-75 wpm. Typing test required.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel

· Proficiency in Zoom, WebEx, and other virtual meeting platforms

· Ability to take directions from multiple staff members

· Experience with the litigation process is preferred but not required

· Experience with legal case management software is preferred with preference given to Smokeball.

· Experience with legal billing is preferred.

· Notary certification is a plus but not required

· Bilingual or multi-lingual is a plus but not required

· Ability to provide references if requested

NEEDED TO START IMMEDIATELY

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Location: Valdosta, Georgia 31602

· Must be able to reliably commute or planning to relocate prior to starting work
