About the Role
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a member of the Legal, Compliance & Risk group, the Legal Associate will be a member of the Global Delivery & Enablement team, with a focus on contracting and documentation work primarily supporting Wellington’s Investment Platform activities and improving process and developing/implementing technology solutions, including AI, supporting contracting and documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Primarily assist with contracting and documentation for support of Wellington’s Investment Platform including documentation for fixed income and equity transactions, derivatives and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Assist with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating investment management agreements and other ancillary contracts (such as fund documentation, confidentiality agreements and amendment agreements).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Public Markets Legal team and investment professionals.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Legal team as necessary in connection with contracting work.
  • Assisting with complex issues arising on documentation and helping to establish controls and processes where required.
  • Support the development and implementation of technology solutions in relation to the contracting process, including AI and Microsoft Suite Power Apps.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of legal processes, design and efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate is likely to have:
  • Initial experience in a legal or contracting function at an asset manager, financial institution or large corporate and experience in technology applications.
  • Qualification as a lawyer is not a requirement for consideration for the role.
  • Interest in the implementation of legal technology and process design and improvement
  • Good business judgement, and strong collaboration skills.
  • A pragmatic and risk aware approach to contracting and co-ordination and collaboration within the Legal team and wider business.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively distill and communicate complex issues in a dynamic environment;
  • The character and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Language skills would be a positive but is not a requirement.

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:
USD 65,000 - 150,000
This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
