Job Purpose:
The
Legal Expert – Agreements and Contracts
is responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing all types of commercial and corporate agreements. This role ensures legal accuracy, compliance with local and international laws, and the mitigation of legal and business risks in contractual engagements. The expert will collaborate closely with internal departments, external counsel, and business stakeholders to safeguard the organization’s legal interests.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Contract Drafting and Review

Draft, review, and revise a wide range of contracts and agreements, including but not limited to:

Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
-
Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
-
Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs)
-
Joint Venture (JV) agreements
-
Vendor, customer, and supplier contracts
-
Employment-related agreements
-
Lease and property contracts
-
Licensing and IP agreements
-
Ensure that all contracts align with organizational objectives and legal requirements.
2. Negotiation and Advisory

Lead or support contract negotiations with third parties, ensuring the best possible legal and commercial outcomes for the organization.

Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on contract terms, obligations, and potential liabilities.

Advise on contractual risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.
3. Legal Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure all contracts comply with relevant laws and regulations (local and international).

Monitor changes in legislation that may impact contract terms or business operations.

Develop and maintain contract templates and standard clauses to ensure consistency and compliance.
4. Contract Lifecycle Management

Assist in the implementation and oversight of a contract management system.

Track contract milestones, renewal dates, and performance obligations.

Support internal audits and ensure proper contract archiving and documentation.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration

Work closely with procurement, finance, HR, and operational departments to understand business needs and integrate legal best practices.

Liaise with external legal counsel when required.
6. Training and Capacity Building

Provide training sessions or guidance to internal teams on contract procedures, legal implications, and risk awareness.
Education & Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) is required.
-
Master’s degree (LLM) or relevant postgraduate legal certification is preferred.

Admission to practice law in a recognized jurisdiction is a plus.

6–8 years of relevant experience in legal advisory roles focused on contracts and agreements.

Proven experience in a corporate legal department or reputable law firm.
-
Experience in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, government, healthcare, or technology is an asset.
