Legal Financial Analyst - Law Firm

Job Description:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for administering and tracking the firm’s compensation and bonus programs tied to case performance, settlements, and fee generation. This role ensures accurate and timely calculation of bonuses across both pre-litigation and litigation teams, while supporting leadership with reporting, financial analysis, and compensation insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track, calculate, and manage compensation and bonus programs for pre-litigation and litigation teams based on case outcomes, settlements, and fee generation.
  • Calculate bonuses for case managers, attorneys, and support staff tied to performance metrics including case volume, resolution timelines, and trial results.
  • Monitor litigation milestones such as filings, mediations, settlements, and verdicts for bonus eligibility.
  • Administer attorney compensation including contingency-based earnings, originations, referral fees, and co-counsel splits.
  • Maintain and manage complex Excel spreadsheets tracking case financials, settlements, fees, and bonuses.
  • Reconcile compensation data with case management and accounting systems to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly bonus and performance reports for leadership.
  • Analyze trends in settlements, fees, and productivity to support forecasting and compensation planning.
  • Audit bonus calculations and resolve discrepancies with attorneys, managers, and accounting teams.
  • Improve and streamline bonus tracking systems, reporting processes, and compensation model.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial, case, and employee compensation data.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–4 years of experience in compensation analysis, or financial reporting (personal injury experience strongly preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis)
  • Experience with case management systems (e.g., Filevine) is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume data
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Pay: $65,199.86 - $85,000.00 per year
