Position: Head – Legal & Contracts / General Counsel
Location: Pune
Industry: Infrastructure (Roads, Highways, Railways, HAM, Irrigation, Housing Projects)
Experience: 15–20+ years in legal, contracts, and dispute resolution (EPC/Infrastructure sector preferred)
Reporting To: Managing Director / CEO

About the Client

Our client is a reputed infrastructure company delivering complex and high-value EPC and HAM projects across India. With a diversified project portfolio and expanding operations, they are seeking a strategic and experienced Head – Legal & Contracts to lead legal governance, contract management, risk mitigation, and dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities

Legal & Regulatory

  • Oversee all legal affairs, compliance, and regulatory issues across the organization
  • Advise senior management on legal risks, statutory obligations, and corporate governance
  • Ensure adherence to applicable laws (Companies Act, Contract Act, Arbitration Act, etc.)

Contract Management

  • Lead end-to-end review, drafting, negotiation, and finalization of contracts (EPC, PPP, HAM, subcontracts, JV agreements, vendor contracts)
  • Define and implement contract risk mitigation strategies and frameworks
  • Manage change orders, claims, and variations in line with contract terms

Dispute Resolution & Arbitration

  • Handle arbitration, litigation, and pre-dispute negotiations
  • Liaise with external legal counsel, arbitrators, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure effective representation and enforcement of claims and awards

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all statutory filings, approvals, and licenses are updated and compliant
  • Monitor company-wide adherence to legal and contractual obligations
  • Develop and maintain legal policies, SOPs, and internal controls

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor legal officers, contract managers, and compliance professionals
  • Establish KPIs and governance standards for legal & contracts function

Candidate Profile

  • LLB/LLM from a reputed institution; CS qualification is an added advantage
  • 15–20+ years of legal & contracts experience (preferably in infrastructure, construction, or engineering sector)
  • Strong knowledge of contract laws, arbitration, compliance, and risk management
  • Understanding of government contracts, PPP frameworks, and FIDIC terms
  • Proven ability to manage high-value disputes and regulatory matters
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹90,000.00 - ₹120,000.00 per month
