Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our dynamic legal team. This vital role provides comprehensive administrative support to attorneys across a diverse range of practice areas, including estate planning, criminal and traffic litigation, family law, securities law, The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, legal research expertise, and proficiency in legal case management systems. Duties
- Manage and maintain legal documents using document management systems such as iManage and MyCase ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Draft, review, and proofread legal documents including contracts, pleadings, correspondence, court orders, and reports with precision and clarity.
- Assist attorneys with legal case management by organizing files, tracking deadlines, reviewing police body-worn camera footage, and preparing case summaries.
- Perform data entry and filing tasks to ensure all client records are current and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Support litigation processes through document review, transcription, and preparation for court proceedings.
- Coordinate appointments, interviews, and meetings with clients or witnesses while maintaining excellent phone etiquette.
- Provide executive administrative support such as scheduling, calendar management, and correspondence handling to ensure smooth office operations.
- Have a thirst for knowledge and be willing to learn on the job.
- Assist with project management tasks related to complex legal initiatives or compliance projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Experience
- Proven legal administrative experience in a busy law office setting.
- Demonstrated familiarity with a broad spectrum of practice areas including estate planning, criminal and traffic litigation, family law, landlord/tenant law, and personal injury law,
- Strong computer skills utilizing Word, Outlook, and MyCase to gather relevant legal information efficiently.
- Experience with legal case management software such as MyCase is highly desirable.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in proofreading and document review processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high organizational standards.
- Effective communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette for interacting with clients and team members.
