Legal Secretary

Full-Time (40 hours per week)

FLSA CLASSIFICATION Non-Exempt, Hourly

A set schedule of eight hours a day, Monday-Friday working in the office during business hours is required.

JOB SUMMARY

This position will provide administrative support to two-three attorneys who have various types of case files including medical malpractice, contract interpretation, product liability and environmental law.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transcribe, review, revise or draft a variety of legal documents including pleadings, subpoenas, contracts, summonses, and appeals.
  • Organize and coordinate legal meetings including client interviews, hearings and depositions; assist with meetings utilizing Zoom or other platforms.
  • Accurately diary and calendar discovery and other events.
  • Manage and update case files by hard copy or in the case management database.
  • File documents with federal and state courts via courier, in person, postal mail or online.
  • Assist with billing and recording time accurately for billing purposes.
  • Assist with travel plans and expense reports as requested.
  • Manage email, calendar, task lists and document management

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; at least 30 college credit hours, military training or technical school studies in a relevant area preferred
  • Candidates with administrative support, paralegal or project management certification are highly desired

DESIRED SKILL SET

  • 3 years working in a law firm setting.
  • Working knowledge of civil procedures, forms and legal terminology
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of our employees and clients; professional approach to assignments with the ability to adjust work priorities, when necessary
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word and also Adobe Acrobat; experience using Perfect Law or a similar case management database is a plus.
  • Familiarity with local, state and federal filing rules

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
