The State of New Hampshire, Department of Justice, Consumer Protection Bureau has a full-time vacancy for a LEGAL SECRETARY III .
Summary : To render legal secretarial services for attorneys, paralegals and interns in the Consumer Protection Bureau and Antitrust Bureau of the Attorney General’s Office
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Associate's degree OR equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in the fields of law, paralegal studies, or related field.
License/Certification: Valid driver's license and/or access to transportation for statewide travel.

The work of an employee in trainee status in this position shall be overseen by a fully qualified individual. An employee in trainee status shall meet the minimum qualifications within the period of time specified on the SJD, not to exceed one year of being hired into this position.
Responsibilities:
Receives, sorts, and scans into database all incoming and hand-delivered Bureau mail to ensure complete and accurate case records. Notifies each attorney as soon as possible after receipt of any case related correspondence or pleadings.
Types pleadings, memoranda, and letters, transcribes interviews and other documents, as needed, and composes letters, as directed, to ensure the timely, accurate and professional completion of documents.
Performs all secretarial duties for assistant attorneys general, attorneys, and legal interns.
Compiles statistical charts and completes database queries as directed.
Contacts federal and state agencies, citizens, legislators, attorneys, and court personnel to schedule hearings, meetings and/or conference calls, and directs parties to the appropriate entities.
Organizes and maintains case files, research files, form files, and miscellaneous files enabling prompt retrieval of documents.
