Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in library science, Information Studies or related field.
  • One (1) year of teaching, academic librarian, graduate internship, or relevant experience in a library is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience in accordance with Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise personnel, schedule facility desks and train staff as assigned.
  • Provide support of all circulation functions including Interlibrary Loan and reserves.
  • Provide support of all technical service functions including cataloging, processing, serials, and inventory.
  • Provide all patrons with in-person and virtual research assistance. Embed in selected courses as required.
  • Teach in-person and virtual information literacy to students, faculty, and staff of Daytona State College, Develop information literacy curriculum. Develop instructional support materials and train staff as needed.
  • Contribute to collection development activities including collection analysis, material recommendations, and deselection processes.
  • Engage in ongoing research, development, and implementation of new methods and technologies for improving library service functions.
  • Provide support of all marketing and outreach activities.
  • Provide support of administrative functions including planning, budgeting, and statistical reporting of library functions.
  • Engage in appropriate professional development and college service activities.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned and directed by the President or their designee.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must have a general understanding of Library software programs.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to take initiative, be self-directed and have a commitment to innovation and creativity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and be flexible to meet the demands of the College.
  • Must have a general knowledge of all areas of librarianship
