Job Summary
The Orchid School is seeking a dedicated and organized Librarian to manage the school library and promote a love for reading among students. The ideal candidate should be able to maintain library resources efficiently and support students and teachers in accessing learning materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and organize the school library and its resources
- Maintain proper cataloging and record-keeping of books and materials
- Issue and receive books using library management systems
- Guide students in selecting appropriate reading materials
- Promote reading habits through library activities and reading programs
- Ensure proper maintenance and care of library resources
- Assist teachers and students in research and learning support
- Organize library displays, book fairs, and reading events
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science (BLIS) or related field (preferred)
- Prior experience in a school library will be an advantage
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for reading and student engagement
- Basic computer skills for library management systems
