EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provides exemplary service to all library customers. Task-oriented in leading a team to fulfill projects, operations, and services.Values problem solving and strategizing solutions. Communicates effectively across a variety of mediums with your colleagues and to various communities.Creates and organizes procedures, workflows, and processes that support daily performance of a library. Steers collaborative efforts within a team and through partnerships.Readily grasps new technologies and platforms.Managing a branch collection.Connecting teens, adults, seniors, and people with disabilities with material and resources both in-person and over the telephone.Serving on a branch Leadership Team. Utilizing new technologies and platforms.Serving on committees, and workgroups for projects, and initiatives for the library system.Leading branch in collection development, analysis, and maintenance, and making recommendations to the manager.THIS RECRUITMENT WILL GENERATE A 6-MONTH ELIGIBLE LIST TO FILL CURRENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES FOR THE LIBRARIAN II POSITIONS AT ALL BRANCH LOCATIONS WITHIN MCPL.Hours for this position: Library hours of operation are 7 days a week including evenings, days, and weekends. Employees are expected to be available for work during these times. Individual schedules, including evenings and weekends, will vary based on branch operational needs.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed the extent, relevance of training, and experience in the following areas: Proven experience leading diverse teams. Emphasis on developing and motivating staff by creating a culture of open communication, coaching, and/or supervising personnel, including providing input to or creating performance evaluations and staff schedules.Experience leading meetings, creating agendas, and/or developing training materials.Providing customer service and resolving complex customer service issues in a library setting; being the person in charge in the absence of a manager or supervisorTechnology skills to include knowledge of Integrated Library System (ILS), office equipment, mobile apps, MS Office software and troubleshooting computer hardware and peripherals.All Applicants will be reviewed by the Office of Human Resources (OHR) for minimum qualifications. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be rated “Qualified,” placed on the Referred List, and may be considered for an interview. Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following: Experience in planning and organizing a service or project.Experience maintaining a collection in a public, school, or community college library setting.Experience providing a variety of library services and resources to children and people with disabilities in a public, school, or community college setting.Experience and familiarity with web applications and new technologies.
