EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position is located in the Technical Services Section, Office of the State Librarian, Hawaii State Public Library System. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising statewide cataloging and classification services, database maintenance, acquisition of selected library materials, and processing of library materials received by the Technical Services Section.In order to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position, applicants must possess demonstrated knowledge of a variety of cataloging and metadata standards including Anglo American Cataloging Rules, Dewey Decimal Classification, Resource Description and Access, and machine-readable cataloging; automated library systems; and e-resources management. Applicants must also be able to plan, organize, and direct the implementation of new and modified cataloging and/or classification systems and procedures; make priority decisions; demonstrate competency in computer use including internet and Microsoft Office products, or equivalent; and learn and become proficient with equipment and software programs and required to effectively and efficiently perform the assigned duties.
