Minimum Experience/Education
  • Familiarity with library circulation functions, and electronic resources.
  • General computer skills and the ability to troubleshoot computer, copier, scanner, and
printer issues.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service in an academic library setting.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
  • Associates/ Bachelor’s degree
  • Front desk/ front of house/ information service point experience
  • Public / academic library experience

Duties and Responsibilities
This position will staff the Information Research desk as needed during Atkins Library’s varying hours of operation by

  • circulating library items
  • receiving/transferring calls
  • assisting with research
  • providing directions
  • supporting building security.

*Temporary staff employees are ineligible to receive benefits (leave, health coverage, State service credit, etc.). They are, however, covered by Worker’s Compensation provisions.
