Rutgers University Libraries operate with a budget of $45 million and have outstanding collections, especially in jazz and New Jerseyana. Collectively, the Libraries’ holdings include more than 5 million volumes. The Libraries hold memberships in ARL, CNI, CRL, Lyrasis, NERL, VALEnj, SPARC, and the Coalition of Open Access Policy Institutions (COAPI); use Ex Libris, Alma, Primo, and OCLC as primary bibliographic utilities; and utilize a Fedora-based institutional repository.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Library Assistant for the Robeson Library – Camden.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Handles the Access Services Desk coverage Wednesday, Thursday (5:00 PM – 10:00 PM), Friday (12:00 PM – 5:00 PM) and Saturday (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm) during the standard academic year (may change during break and summer).
- Handles staffing the access services desk.
- Directs student workers and other duties as assigned.

Salary Details
$17.70-18.10 per hour.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 or the applicable provisions of relevant collective negotiations agreements, this position requires a fully on-site work arrangement and may be eligible for a compressed workweek or a flex workday schedule. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or discontinuation, and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and/or up to 4 years of relevant office, clerical, library assistant or related experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college preferred.
- General library experience.
- Familiarity with computers and computer software, such as the Microsoft Office suite of products, scanning software (i.e. Adobe) and devices.
Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to lift and carry books and packages weighing no more than 50 lbs.
