Library Assistant I (Summer/Seasonal)

The St. Petersburg Library System is seeking candidates for multiple part-time; summer Library Assistant I positions. These positions will assist the Youth & Family Services and Adult Services teams in presenting the summer reading program for youth, adults, and families by providing excellent library service and friendly customer service to staff and patrons of all ages. Work includes answering questions from community members, assisting with the preparation of program materials, assisting library program presenters, and helping to shelve and sort library materials. Successful candidates will be scheduled to work at library locations around the city and will be scheduled to work evenings and weekends. This is summer employment with variable start and end dates.


Salary: $18.01 - $25.82 Hourly

To Qualify


Minimum Qualifications.
Applicants must:

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Have the ability to travel between library facilities as needed.
  • Have some previous experience working with the public.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Be skilled in technology.
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills.
