Library Assistant II

This is full-time, lead paraprofessional work assisting in various phases of library operations. Work involves extensive contact with the community providing excellent customer service including registering patrons, troubleshooting account issues, collecting fees, advising patrons on policies and procedures of the library system, assisting patrons in locating materials, and planning and presenting programs. Work also includes answering computing, informational and directional questions, and refers advanced research questions to a librarian. In the absence of a library coordinator, this position holds supervisory responsibility over other library employees and facilities as assigned. This position requires flexible working hours that include evenings and weekends.


Salary: $20.50 - $31.28 Hourly

To Qualify


Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Have the ability to travel between library facilities as needed.
  • Have previous customer service experience.
  • Have at least one (1) year of experience working in a public library system.
  • Be skilled in technology, including computers, integrated library systems, databases, and cash register/point of sale use.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.


Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Have at least two (2) years of public library experience.
· Have at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
