Location: Assigned Districts of Karachi (Keamari/Malir) Schools, with regular school-level field presence
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Library Corner Support & Management
- Assist school staff in the physical setup, organization, and day-to-day management of library corners in assigned schools.
- Support the implementation of library management protocols — including book cataloguing, lending systems, inventory tracking, and book care — developed by the Library Coordinator.
- Ensure library corners are kept tidy, well-organized, and fully functional at all times.
- Conduct regular visits to assigned schools to check library corner status, address operational issues, and provide on-site support.
- Assist in periodic audits of library materials and report findings to the Library Coordinator.
Reading Promotion & Student Engagement
- Facilitate structured reading sessions, read-aloud activities, and storytelling sessions with students in library corners and classrooms.
- Support teachers in planning and conducting guided reading, independent reading time, and reading clubs within the school.
- Assist in organizing school-level reading promotion events such as book displays, reading challenges, and story-sharing sessions.
- Encourage student engagement with library resources and foster a love of reading through creative, interactive activities.
- Promote multilingual reading in Urdu and Sindhi to strengthen language and literacy development.
Training Support & Capacity Building
- Assist the Library Coordinator in facilitating library management and reading promotion training workshops for school staff and SMC members.
- Support follow-up coaching visits to schools to reinforce training content and monitor application of skills.
- Help teachers integrate library resources and reading activities into their daily classroom instruction.
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of training materials, resource guides, and toolkits.
Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of library corner visits, book lending activity, reading session attendance, and training follow-up.
- Collect and document school-level library data using project monitoring tools and submit to the Library Coordinator.
- Prepare regular field visit reports highlighting progress, challenges, and good practices from assigned schools.
- Support documentation of success stories and case studies for knowledge sharing and reporting purposes.
- Ensure all data is entered accurately and submitted on time in line with project requirements.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Library Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in library management, classroom facilitation, or community-level literacy promotion.
- Experience working in a school setting and engaging with young children and teachers.
- Familiarity with library management practices and children's literature.
- Good communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with basic data collection tools an advantage.
- Fluency in Urdu and Sindhi; working knowledge of English.
- Willingness to be field-based and travel regularly within the assigned district.
Pay: Rs40,000.00 - Rs50,000.00 per month
