Library Associate - Generalist

The Rudisill Regional Library Generalist Library Associate plays a key role in creating exceptional experiences for every customer who walks through our doors. In this position, the Associate serves as the friendly, knowledgeable face of the library—welcoming visitors, understanding their needs, and connecting them with the resources, services, and support that make a difference.

In this dynamic role, the Library Associate assists customers with technology, mobile devices, e-readers, and reference questions, while offering thoughtful readers’ advisory and service recommendations. The Generalist Associate also guides customers in discovering all that TCCL has to offer, collaborating with on-call professional staff across the branch and system to ensure seamless, high-quality service.

With a strong focus on customer experience, the Generalist Library Associate anticipates trends, identifies opportunities to improve workflow, and proactively connects customers with the full range of services offered by TCCL. From welcoming guests to educating, guiding, and recommending resources, this position ensures every library customer has an extraordinary and meaningful library experience.
Generalist Library Associate
Location: Rudisill Regional Library - 1520 N. Hartford Tulsa, OK. 74106
Status: Part Time - 20 hr.
Salary: $21.10 / hr.

Schedule:
Monday 9:00am - 1:00pm;
Wednesday 8:00am - 12:00pm;
Thursday 8:00am - 12:00pm;
Saturday 8:00am - 5:00pm;
Occasional Sunday and flexible schedule required
Key essential functions include:
  • Communicates effectively, trains customers, and resolves problems at the point of need in the use and application of all of the library’s self-service features including self-check, on-line account management, pay stations, the online catalog, online resource guides, and instructional videos;
  • Trains and educates library customers on new and existing self-service technology and devices (including e-readers, smart phones and mobile devices); assists with troubleshooting customer self-service tools and technology issues;
  • Presents programs for diverse audiences (e.g. children, young adults, adults, families, or other groups) in anticipation of or response to customer interest or needs;
  • Maintains and operates AV equipment, computers, office machines, and other library hardware and software;
  • Conducts community outreach, which may include services to homebound, assisted living, and nursing home residents;
  • Makes meeting room arrangements, performing equipment setups as needed;
  • May develop and maintain collections;
  • May catalog specialized materials and classify various formats of media;
  • Excellent interpersonal, teaching, presentation, training (one-on-one and small group), and communication skills.
  • Research and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to help customers with their basic computer needs, including e-mail, answering Microsoft product questions, and navigating the Internet.
  • Required to work some evenings and weekends;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelors’ degree required.
  • No previous experience required; library, retail, or customer service experience preferred.

Physical Activity & Environmental Conditions

Work occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting, such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required.
Work is typically conducted indoors with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
Routine in-town travel with occasional out-of-town trips. Reliable personal transportation is required.
