This is a non-exempt (hourly) position. Pay rates are based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity. Internal equity considerations include an assessment of the applicant’s salary history and qualifications in comparison to the market rate and requirements for the job.

Schedule:
Full Time 40 hours per week, Benefit Eligible
M - TH 9:00am – 6:00pm
F 9:00am – 5:00pm
Two evenings per week 11:00am - 8:00pm
Rotating weekends

The Library Associate responsibilities include leading programs for pre-teens and teens such as maker/steam/creative, career readiness, mental health, and social skills building programs. This role also represents the library in the community, conducting outreach initiatives and programing within community organizations and among partners. Collaboration with system-wide teams and Teen Services staff is essential.
Strong programming, outreach, and partnership-building experience are highly desirable. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who also possesses the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
This position supports the branch team in creating a welcoming and engaging environment for all customers. Additional duties include staffing service desks for all departments, providing circulation, technology, research, and readers’ advisory assistance. A rotating schedule with evenings and weekends is required.

Position Summary
The Library Associate will perform professional library work focusing on pre-teen and teen services and programs while providing support to all departments of the library and to the community. The person in this position is expected to deliver a high level of quality library services, providing valuable experiences for all customers and building a stronger community.
Essential Functions
Create and deliver programs to age-appropriate audiences
Provide research, technology, and reader’s advisory assistance to customers at all service points
Perform circulation activities
Utilize integrated library systems software
Train and assist customers with various library policies, procedures, and processes
Assist with collecting and maintaining library materials, with a focus on middle-grade materials
Promote and market library programs
Experience
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of two years of library, retail, computer, or customer service experience
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Education/Experience
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with pre-teens and teens
Knowledge of middle grade and YA collections
Experience with/passion for maker/steam/creative programming
