Library Branch Manager - Library Services Department

Under the general direction of the Library Public Services Division Manager, the Library Branch Manager directs and manages professional, technical, and clerical employees. The Library Manager assists in the day-to-day functioning of their assigned library branch.


This is a "mandatory-testing" position that requires Drug Testing.


EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Manages staff to include prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe work environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations


Plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the work of subordinate employees


Reviews supply requisitions for library materials and resources


Assists in the preparation of the annual budget for the West Florida Public Libraries


Conducts annual inventory of capital equipment; maintains related records


Plans, coordinates, administers, and evaluates programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, and standards, to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.


Monitors and interprets changes in laws and regulations, related to public library and services reporting; evaluates their impact on applicable activities


Prepares technical and administrative reports


Acts as a liaison with Federal, State, local, and other agencies


Performs other duties as assigned


TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualification Requirements:


Training and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field and five years of progressively responsible experience supervising public library operations and services; or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.


Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver’s license from state of residence


Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Library Information science (MLIS) or Master’s of Library Science (MLS)

Emergency Management Responsibilities:
Note: During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.


Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, finger and hand dexterity, and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
