Job Title: Library Circulation Clerk (Part Time)

Education and Experience
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
- Education: High School diploma or GED.
- Experience: One-year previous experience required, cash handling & customer service.
- Certifications: None required.
- Licensing: Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, with a clear driving record.
- Residency: None
- Worksite/Schedule: Average of 19 hours a week, Monday through Sunday, morning, and evening shifts.
Summary
Work the Circulation Desk to check books and other materials in and out; wait on patrons; answer questions; find books or materials requested.
Essential Job Functions
- Offer assistance to patrons interested in checking resources in and out, assessing resources, and participating in activities supported by the library. Help patrons find books, materials and use library computers, copier, microfilm/fiche reader, etc.
- Check accounts for fines, accept payments, provide receipt for any payments that are made and receipt for items that are being checked out. Check condition of items that have been returned, putting items in/out of quarantine.
- Maintaining stacks. Shelving books. Shelf reading of call numbers for accuracy of placement. Making sure books, movies, and resources are in order and aligned appropriately for presentation.
- Reference calls and inquiries. Helping patrons find particular information for many things. Assist them in finding locations, legal forms, finding/requesting books, movies or other materials. Assisting them in printing and operating computers.
- Assist in planning, promotion, and setup for events. Assist for events, book clubs, and book readings. Assist in event set up and snacks. Assist in planning book selections. Compose and post activities to social media with the approval of the Director, Circulation Supervisor and the Communications Director.
- Ensure Library mascot is well fed, cared for, and displayed for patrons of all ages.
- Conduct research.
- Assisting patrons on computer. Logging in, basic navigation, teaching basic computer skills when needed.
- Generate reports.

- Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: get along with co-workers without exhibiting behavior extremes, perform work activities in a team setting requiring negotiating, instruction, supervision, persuading, or speaking with others, respond appropriately to constructive criticism from a supervisor.

- 9 days per year of paid vacation accrued the first year of service.

- City of Jacksonville conducts random drug testing in accordance with Texas law and applicable federal guidelines.
