JOIN OUR TEAM AS A CIRCULATION SUPERVISOR!The Circulation Supervisor role involves professional library work responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of a branch library’s circulation unit.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Directs the operation of the branch automated circulation, reserve, discharge, and shelving functions. Prepares staff schedules to ensure weekly and daily coverage of library service points. Maintains detailed, current knowledge of the Integrated Library System (ILS) and circulation and fiscal policies and procedures. Supervises the reconciliation of funds collected from fees and print management. Maintains records of fines and fees. Oversees the damaged library materials process. Advises and trains staff on circulation and fiscal policies and procedures. Documents accurate procedures for circulation-specific tasks. Deposits money as required. Prepares and files circulation, financial, and other reports. Maintains records and statistics. Answers telephone calls and directs them accordingly. Receives requests for information. Assists citizens with in-person inquiries. Resolves questions and problems. Provides reference and readers advisory services to patrons of all ages under the direction of a professional librarian. Assists with bibliographic instruction, including the automated library system and all other technologies, to patrons, volunteers, and visiting groups. Consults and works with branch manager on hiring, training, directing, and evaluating work of branch staff. May serve as lead supervisor as directed. May assist with library programming and outreach for patrons of all ages. Participates in training and continuing education. Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and push or pull heavy objects. Performs related work as required.

PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to life and/or move excessively heavy objects. Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching and stooping. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Must be able to work evenings and
weekends.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of experience working directly with the public. Experience in the operation of a personal computer and related software required. Experience in library programming. One (1) year of library experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
