This part-time Library Clerk I position, primarily providing patron assistance, circulation services is based at the Epworth Library Branch. This position is approximately 28 hours per week, requiring regular evening and alternating weekend shifts.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provide general library services at circulation desks using library management system and knowledge of the collection, including but not limited to: material check in and check outshelving materials and maintaining appropriate organization, presentation, and distribution of collection at assigned branchpatron registrationplacing holds and purchase requestsadvising patrons in locating materialsPerform basic reference and readers’ advisory service.Assist patrons with computer, photocopier, and fax.Collect fines and fees.Answer incoming calls, route to appropriate staff.Rotate collection materials through the branches to meet patron demand. Deliver library materials to the branches. Process new library materials.Purchase supplies.Light cleaning (e.g. dusting, disc cleaning).Perform related tasks as required.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
General Requirements: Ability to operate computer, use Internet and basic software such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks and operation of library management system, and to adhere to library policies and procedures.Some knowledge of library principles, methods, and practices.General knowledge of reader interests and of books and authors.Some knowledge of theory and objectives of a public library system.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library employees and patrons.Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to multiple locations as needed. Access to a personal vehicle may sometimes be necessary.Ability to work evenings and weekends.Primarily Epworth branchPhysical Requirements: The following are required with or without reasonable accommodation: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, which permits the employee to communicate effectively.Sufficient vision, which permits the employee to prepare and read a wide variety of materials.Sufficient manual dexterity, which permits the employee to operate a computer keyboard and other equipment.Sufficient personal mobility, which permits the employee to complete various activities such as lifting up to 35 lbs., bending, kneeling, carrying, walking.
