Summary of Responsibilities:
Under the administration of the Library Director, shall provide excellent service to its community. All clerks are expected to interact with patrons and staff with courtesy and respect. Must have the ability to work independently within assigned responsibilities.
Education & Training Required:
Holds a high school diploma or equivalent.

Workload:
· Will work complete hours of the library being open on assigned days.
· Library hours are Mon, Tues and Friday 12:00 – 5:00, Wed and Thurs 10:00 – 6:00 and Sat 10:00 – 2:00.
· Shifts will be every Wednesday and Friday, with alternating Saturdays and Mondays, totaling approximately 34 hours every two weeks.
· Additional coverage shifts may become available, as needed.
Summary of Responsibilities & Duties:
· Provide friendly, courteous and accurate services to all users, including new patron orientation
· Respond to patron requests, suggestions and complaints which may including conduct internet searches to assist patrons
· Establish and maintain working relationships with patrons
· Oversee the automation and technology needs and maintenance of the library, while implementing new technologies
· Answer phone and retrieves voice messages
· Return library materials to shelves in accurate filing matter, in addition to “reading” the shelves for proper filing
· Retrieve and process holds from shelves
· Contact patrons to deliver information on requested materials and holds
· Operate all library equipment (computer, copier, phone, etc.)
· Perform circulation, reserve and overdue functions, including tracking the STLS rotating collections
· Process new collection materials including, but not limited to: books, videos, magazine and patron library cards, and input into system
· Process transit delivery bags and item return bin
· Obtain mail and newspaper from mailbox and file accordingly
· Review new book shelves, reshelve older books, make changes in the computer to reflect the change
· Maintain neatness of public areas including desks, counters, shelves, tables and personal space visible to public
· Make book recommendations to the Library Director for purchase by referencing catalogs and book reviews
· Develop, curate and set-up topical book displays
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Knowledge of library philosophies and technology
· Ability to set priorities, make decisions and exercise discretion with patrons and staff
· Ability to think analytically and exercise initiative
· Ability to prioritize work, meet established deadlines, delegate duties and attend to detail as appropriate
· Knowledge of computers and the internet, especially integrated library systems, Microsoft Office and similar software programs
· Ability to handle multiple and simultaneous tasks
· Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and Library Director
· Ability to work effectively as a team
· Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and orally
· Ability to work the hours needed to complete responsibilities assigned by the Library Director
Pay: $16.00 per hour
