Summary of the libraries

The Quechee/Wilder Libraries are located in Hartford, Vermont, a town with a population of

10,000. Located in the Upper Valley, the Quechee/Wilder libraries are part of a rich ecosystem

of community organizations that work for the betterment of our people and planet.

The Quechee Library, located on the main street of Quechee village, is well-utilized by full-time

and part-time residents alike. The Wilder Club & Library is an additional site whose library

operations are run by the Quechee Library at the historic Wilder Club & Library building in

Wilder village.

Both libraries have dynamic programming for all ages, including storytimes, book groups, live

music, and summer reading programs. The library also has a diverse collection of print and

online resources for patrons with technology support readily available to those who need it.

Job Description

The Quechee/Wilder Libraries are seeking an experienced full-time Director. This position is 35

hours/week and includes regular evenings and rotating weekends.

Essential duties include:

- Provides strategic and administrative leadership in collaboration with the Quechee

Library Board of Trustees, and communicates regularly with the Wilder Club & Library

Board of Trustees.

- Executes community-minded strategic visioning processes across the two libraries.

- Develops and administers the library’s annual budget ($210,000 for FY 27) consisting of

town allocations, individual contributions, and grants, and ensures sound fiscal

management.

- Recruits, supervises, and develops 4 part-time staff members and a core of 12+

volunteers across the two library sites.

- Curates library services and a collection of over 30,000 items to meet the evolving needs

of the community.

- Develop partnerships and programming with local and state organizations such as the

other town libraries, local schools, the Vermont Humanities Council, and Bugbee Senior

Center.

- Maintains active membership and acts as a representative of the libraries in local and

state consortiums and resource sharing groups.

- Provides direct support to patrons and visitors including circulation desk coverage and

technology support.

- Oversees library technology and information systems to support modern service delivery

and digital collection offerings.

- Oversees the pursuit of Sustainable Library Certification and general facilities upkeep

and management to ensure a safe, welcoming, and functional library environment.

Pay: $32.00 - $37.00 per hour
