MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in library science from an accredited ALA library school and considerable experience in the planning, development and administration of library services with some managerial and supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be eligible for or possess NC Public Librarian certification by the NC Librarian Certification Commission.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Under limited supervision, performs complex professional and administrative work directing, coordinating, and supervising the activities of the County library system. Work includes establishing goals for program planning and budget preparation, managing personnel and capital facilities, collection development, and establishing administrative policies and procedures for library operations in accordance with County policies and state requirements. Oversees collection development and maintenance, services, and programs, customer and community relations, outreach and partnership development and general maintenance and security of the County libraries. Work is performed independently under supervision of the County Manager.
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENT: Must have a valid driver’s license. Criminal background check and drug screen required of finalist applicants.
