Duties
- Provide strategic leadership to guide the library’s mission, goals, and programs, ensuring alignment with community needs.
- Oversee daily operations, including collection management, cataloging, and maintenance of databases and metadata systems.
- Manage the integrated library system (ILS) to facilitate efficient circulation, cataloging, and resource discovery.
- Lead staff recruitment, training, supervision, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated and skilled team.
- Develop and implement innovative programs that promote literacy, research skills, and lifelong learning for all age groups.
- Write grant proposals to secure funding for new initiatives, technology upgrades, and special projects.
- Cultivate relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, and stakeholders to expand outreach efforts.
- Ensure excellent customer service by addressing patron inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Oversee collection development by selecting resources that meet diverse informational needs across various formats.
- Monitor budget expenditures and optimize resource allocation for maximum impact.
Experience
- Proven experience in library management or a similar leadership role within an academic or public library setting.
- Strong knowledge of databases, metadata standards, cataloging practices, and integrated library systems (ILS).
- Demonstrated success in grant proposal writing to secure funding for library projects or technology enhancements.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effective management skills with experience leading teams through coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
- Skilled in project management methodologies to plan, execute, and evaluate initiatives efficiently.
- Exceptional research capabilities coupled with teaching experience to support educational programming.
- Outstanding written communication skills for reports, proposals, policies, and community outreach materials.
