Qualifications:Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must obtain and maintain a Substitute Certificate.
Preferred: Previous experience, but not required.
Individuals will be required to have one of the following to obtain a Substitute Certificate:- Associate’s degree or higher (need official transcripts for file)
- 36 college credit hours (need official transcripts for file)
- Completed Missouri’s 20-hour online substitute training program
- Required copy of high school diploma, high school transcripts, or proof of GED
FLSA: Exempt
Salary Schedule: Per Approved Educational Support Salary Schedule
Direct Report: Building Principal
Terms of Employment: 9 Month
Eligible for emergency telework: With Supervisor approval
Manages day-to-day library operations including circulation, book repair, book and research questions, and other functions for the benefit and use of the school community.
Essential Job Functions:
- Attends work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
- To “telework” when requested by the District. Operates and supervises the library to which assigned.
- Collaborates with the building principal to develop a library schedule which ensures student access during the school week.
- Evaluates, selects, and requisitions new library materials, while maintaining the existing collection.
- Makes library materials available to supplement the instructional program.
- Informs teachers and other staff members concerning new materials the library acquires.
- Maintains a comprehensive and efficient computerized system for cataloging all library materials, and instructs teachers and students on use of the system.
- Collaborates with teachers to provide materials and activities to extend use of library resources.
- Helps students to develop independent research skills in relation to planned assignments.
- Presents and discusses materials with a class studying a particular topic, on the invitation of the teacher.
- Serves on applicable building and/or district committees.
- Arranges frequently changing book-related displays and exhibits likely to interest the library’s patrons.
- Monitors and administers the library budget.
- Participates actively in library and other educational and professional development on the local, regional, state, and/or national level.
- Deselects obsolete and worn materials from the collections.
