Library Learning Resource Coordinator
Salary Schedule: Commensurate with education and experience according to Salary Schedule C3.
Scope: The Library/Learning Resource Center administers the acquisition, preservation, and dissemination of materials and information in all their forms to help educate, enrich, entertain, inform and support the college’s curriculum and instructional program as well as the goals and objectives of Wallace Community College Selma.
In addition to adhering to the general guidelines as specified by the Faculty/Staff Handbook, Dean of Instruction, President and Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, responsibilities include the following:
Provide oversight for the day-to-day operations of the library resource room ensuring patron access to facility and resources.
Recommend polices, resources, and operational strategies for the library resource room to assist the Associate Dean of Learning in making policy and establishing systems that support the mission of the library, addresses the needs of learners, and supports learning in instructional programs.
Assist in the evaluation and selection of library services, materials, and learning resources both electronic and physical. Make recommendation of appropriate resource to Associate Dean of Learning of resources to support learning in instructional programs.
Assist the Associate Dean of Learning in with budget projections and make recommendations regarding expenditure.
Develop and administrate survey to evaluate the effectiveness library services and resources regularly and make recommendations to the Dean of Instruction based on data outcomes of those evaluations.
Assist with the collection, evaluation, and distribution of data information related to learning resources and library related services. Collaborate with Associate Dean, faculty, and staff to collect data for the purpose of enhancing overall services/resources in the library learning resource room.
Prepare and submit appropriate reports and documents as requested by Institutional Effectiveness Division and Associate Dean of Learning .
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to identify innovative learning resources that support their needs.
Manage and supervise library support staff and library work study students.
Oversee the use and maintenance of equipment assigned to the library.
Investigate new trends in library programs and facilitate the use of new techniques, materials, and equipment for the improvement of the library.
Work collaboratively with the Associate Dean of Learning and various departments across the campus to develop accreditation reports to ensure that the College’s Library resources meet the accrediting standards of all agencies that accredit the institution’s educational programs.
Conduct learning resource training both online, in-person, and at campus off-sites to ensure WCCS patrons, faculty, and staff know what resources are provided in the learning resource room and they understand how to access the resources.
Serve on various local and system level committees as identified by the Associate Dean of Learning, Dean of Instruction, and/or the President.
Promote a creative, student-friendly environment that inspires and supports a learning-centered atmosphere in the learning resource room.
Work well with others and show respect to all college constituents.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Associate Dean of Learning, Dean of Instruction, or the President.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A master’s degree with eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in the field of Library Science from a regionally accredited institution,
A minimum of two years’ experience in an automated library required, preferably at the junior college, technical college, or public library level,
An understanding of and a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the two-year Alabama Community College System,
Ability to handle multiple tasks and various situations in a professional manner.
Classroom teaching experience.
