Job Description
This is a regular, part-time, limited position scheduled to work up to 19.99 hours on a regular basis. State retirement system enrollment may be required based on the number of hours/weeks worked in a fiscal year.
Shelves and organizes library materials; retrieves and processes returned items; and maintains clean, orderly library spaces. Provides customer service at the information desk, assisting patrons with locating materials and answering technology-related questions. Supports library programs, events, and outreach activities.
Essential Functions
Gathers library materials for processing from the book drop, patron-use areas, and return stations.
Maintains the organization of the collections. Sorts and prepares materials for shelving; shelves, and shelf-reads and shifts materials as needed. May re-sensitize library materials and check-in materials.
Provides direct public service to customers; answers questions and helps customers with their accounts.
Clears and cleans tables and public seating areas to provide an inviting atmosphere for patrons. Regularly picks up materials left by patrons in public areas.
Assists patrons in the use of copiers, printers, scanners, fax machines, and other equipment. Assists patrons in locating specific library materials.
Staffs the customer service desk as assigned. Issues library cards and updates patron accounts. Verifies payments for library fines and resolves fee disputes, including credit card transactions. Creates new patron records and provides information and interpretation of library policies and procedures. Provide instruction to library patrons on the use of self-service stations.
Assists with special events, outreach, and programs as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required.
Knowledge of books and authors. Previous experience with alphanumeric filing and using the Dewey Decimal System is desirable.
While direct experience is not mandatory for this position, candidates with previous work experience in library services, filing and shelving procedures, and customer service are highly desirable.
Bilingual Speaking Skills (Spanish) Preferred.
