JOB
Under the supervision of the Douglass Branch Manager, the Douglass Branch Page performs a variety of tasks related to the circulation and shelving of library materials and provides support to customers. Duties include checking out materials to customers, registering customers for library cards, answering questions, assisting users with the library catalog, shelving library materials, maintaining the collection in order on the shelves, pulling requests to fill customer holds, and assisting customers with the public access computers and the copier.Schedule is as follows: • Monday 9:30am - 1:00pm• Tuesday 10:00am - 1:30pm• Wednesday 10:00am - 1:30pm• Thursday 5:00 – 8:00pm (off if working Saturday)• Friday 10:00am - 1:30pm (off if working Saturday)• With every third Saturday 9:30am – 4:00pm. Starting April

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Support customers during the checkout process at the desk and self-checkout stationCreate or renew accounts, answer customer questions, renew or request materials, and collect fees in person using the integrated library systemCarry out circulation processes and procedures (check-in/check-out materials, library/computer cards, pull RPLs)Retrieve, inspect, check-in, and organize materials from internal and external book drops and transit bagsPlace returned materials on shelves in proper order, "read" the shelves to keep all materials in proper order, and locate requested items for processingProvide all levels of information services to the public in person and by phoneProvide computer assistance to customersAssist staff with programmingEnsure the collections are maintained for good physical conditionContact customers in person, by phone or by email for damaged materials or missing items (DVD, CD, pamphlet, etc.)Maintain security at the Branch by working with customers to correct any inappropriate behavior and writing incident reports when necessaryEngage with customers and provide guidance or redirection when needed; ensuring customers continue to have a successful library experienceParticipates in departmental and library-wide training and activities, including technology and safety training Provides excellent internal and external customer serviceOther duties as assigned
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
High School Diploma or GED requiredCustomer Service experience preferred Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is helpfulMust be a minimum of 18 years of age
