This is a temporary, part-time position with no guarantee of continued employment beyond the assignment period. This position performs a variety of duties in support of library services, including the physical flow and maintenance of library materials. Work does not require prior knowledge of library procedures but will include clerical and physical duties such as shelving and straightening library materials, filling displays, checking materials in, and other duties as assigned. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Greeting visitors and answer directional questions from the public;
Assists patrons and/or refers to appropriate personnel for more in-depth questions;
Sorts and shelves library materials in the correct order;
Empties book returns and helps prepare materials for re-shelving;
Regularly reviews shelves for order accuracy and re-shelves materials as needed;
Performs general circulation duties, such as checking in materials;
Perform routine cleaning;
May assist with opening and closing activities;
Occasionally shift materials according to the direction of the Collection Manager; and
Performs other assigned duties.
It is mandatory for Temporary Library Page to possess the:
Ability to alphabetize and put things in numerical order.
Ability to lift, bend, and reach.
Ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines and/or multi-line telephone systems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

Working on or completing high school degree;

Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and

Valid driver’s license or state issued identification card.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach and manipulate objects, tools and/or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. The position requires hearing, mental acuity, speaking, and visual acuity.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most work is performed in a well-lighted, modern public library setting with centrally controlled heating and air conditioning.
