Job Summary
Interested in gaining professional experience with technologies such as 3D printing, virtual reality and artificial intelligence? This position provides learning on the job and a flexible schedule while working and supporting a community by fostering health-focused and collaborative projects in the health sciences library.
This part-time, on-campus position is ideal for students or someone needing a position that can schedule around other commitments. This position will work on helping support technology projects in the health sciences library, including: the 3D printing service, AI research and writing tools, a digital cadaver, and a VR/AR/XR simulation space.
The position will work with a team of library staff and IT staff to support equipment and develop documentation for students, staff and faculty interested in these services. This position is part of the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library technology group and projects are completed with the help and supervision of a librarian.
Responsibilities
Provide customer service and technical support to clients in person and in classroom environments
Maintain 3D printing equipment, primarily Prusa MK4S printers, by performing routine maintenance. This includes loading and unloading filament, cleaning print beds, lubricating moving components, and troubleshooting error codes
Technical and user support for Meta Quest headsets in VR/Digital Learning Lab
Willingness to present on tours and/or special events on technologies
Communicate effectively with faculty, staff and students involved in using the technologies
Create content for website and social media channels relevant to library technologies and services
Applicants are encouraged to bring their own ideas for health-related technology projects. Projects may be negotiated and timeline developed.
