Licensed Behavioral Support Therapist

Job Title: Licensed Counselor / Therapist (Behavioral Support Specialist II)

Licensed Social Worker Independent Clinical, Licensed Mental Health Professional, or Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Pay Starting at $80,000.00 per year

Position Description

At Heritage, Behavioral Support Specialist (BSS) is the official title for licensed counselors, social workers, and therapists who provide both behavioral planning in the community and traditional therapy services. In this hybrid role, you’ll serve clients through counseling sessions as well as behavioral support planning in a variety of care settings.

The BSS / Counselor plays a dual role supporting individuals in both behavioral planning and traditional counseling services. This position includes traveling throughout Clark and Cowlitz Counties to visit clients in their communities, as well as providing counseling through in-person sessions or telehealth, based on client needs and preferences.

Community-Based Work (BSS)

  • Commute regularly throughout Clark and Cowlitz Counties to meet clients where they live and receive care (homes, apartments, independent housing, AFHs, ALFs, SNFs, and hospitals).
  • Assess behavioral needs, create intervention plans, and collaborate with care teams to support improved quality of life.

Counseling Services

  • Provide individual counseling sessions (in person or via telehealth).
  • Maintain a caseload of counseling/therapy clients, supporting their emotional and mental health needs.
  • Use evidence-based practices to support client goals and resilience.

Duties

Behavioral Support Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral assessments in client environments.
  • Develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans.
  • Monitor and adjust plans based on ongoing data and observations.
  • Train caregivers and collaborate with professionals on behavior strategies.

Counseling Responsibilities:

  • Provide therapeutic counseling (in person or via telehealth).
  • Maintain documentation per HIPAA and ethical standards.

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain detailed documentation and timely reporting.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams (case managers, therapists, families).
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and case reviews.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Licensure: Must hold current certification in Washington State as LSWIC, LMHP, or LMHC.
  • Technical Proficiency: Microsoft 360, Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint

Work Environment & Flexibility

This hybrid position includes a flexible schedule after onboarding, combining work in the community, office, home, and telehealth.

First 90 Days: Structured schedule, Monday–Friday, 8:45 AM–5:15 PM for training and support.
After Onboarding: Freedom to create your own schedule, balancing home, field, and office work.
