This position serves the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, under the direction of the Supportive Oncology Services Department. The outpatient pediatric hematology-oncology social worker provides psychosocial assessments, counseling, education, mandated reporting, and advocacy services to pediatric, and young adult hematology-oncology patients, their families and caregivers. In addition, the Oncology Social Worker, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), provides consultative support and education regarding the psychosocial impact of cancer to Cancer Center providers. If serving a pediatric population, will need to meet eligibility for CCS paneling.
The LCSW shall adhere to and promote the ethics and values of the social work profession, using the NASW Code of Ethics as a guide to ethical decision making. The LCSW will advocate for the patient's right to self-determination, confidentiality, access to supportive services and resources, and appropriate inclusion in decision making that affects their health and well-being. The LCSW will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team by identifying and offering services that address the biopsychosocial needs of the patient. #CA-SB

Department Overview
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is a team member of Supportive Oncology Services (SOS), providing supportive care at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. This mission of SOS is to serve people whose lives are affected by cancer, through comprehensive assessment and expert management of a myriad of challenges they face.
Department Specific Job Scope
The department is based in the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, within the pediatric hematology-oncology subspecialty on the UC Davis Health medical campus. The pediatric hematology-oncology clinic provides comprehensive hematology-oncology care for pediatric patients. Treating the full range of hematology-oncology diseases for patients ages 0 to young adult (mid-to-late 20s) and beyond. Oncologists work with teams made up of APPs, nurses, social workers, dietitians, and other medical staff to educate, treat, support, and coordinate care for patients and families. The LCSW will provide psychosocial assessments, counseling as well as safety assessments and mandated reporting, support group facilitation, education, resource and psychosocial care coordination for patients and families.
