Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for travel assignments across various healthcare settings. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide essential patient care in diverse environments, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and community clinics. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience, including critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and specialized areas such as Alzheimer’s and dementia care. The LPN will be responsible for delivering compassionate, high-quality nursing services while adhering to all safety and compliance standards. Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
  • Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA regulations and medical protocols.
  • Perform specialized procedures including IV infusion, catheterization, tube feeding, venipuncture, phlebotomy, wound suturing, and sterile processing techniques.
  • Provide acute pain management and participate in complex diagnostic evaluations like spinal taps or cardiac catheterizations.
  • Support patients with chronic conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, infectious diseases, or those requiring hospice or palliative care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and post-acute care strategies to ensure continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and families on health coaching topics including medication administration, nutrition, mobility aids like Hoyer lifts, and infection control practices.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation compliant with NCQA standards while ensuring confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
  • Adapt quickly to different healthcare environments such as outpatient clinics, inpatient units, pediatric or neonatal units (PICU), or home & community care settings.

Skills

  • Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth.
  • Proficiency in advanced nursing procedures: IV insertion/infusion, catheterization (urinary & vascular), sterile technique, tube feeding management, ventilator support.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology principles, CPT & ICD coding for documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to perform patient assessments involving vital signs measurement and diagnostic evaluation in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with diverse patient populations including those with disabilities or developmental delays.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various shifts and healthcare settings; travel nursing experience is preferred but not required.
