Overview:
The Lift Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and safe operation of all aerial and surface lift systems at the resort. This role ensures compliance with state and federal lift codes while maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and guest experience. The mechanic performs daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance on chairlifts, conveyors, and related equipment, documenting all work accurately and promptly.The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions, and values teamwork and safety. This position works closely with other mountain operations departments to ensure timely lift availability and supports the resort’s commitment to excellence and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position.

Maintain, repair, and ensure safe operation of all Highlands chairlifts, carpets, and other cable rope transportation systems.

Prepare and safety check lifts for daily operation before Lift Operations arrive.

Regularly inspect safety switches, control circuits, sheaves, bull-wheel liners, bushings, cables, grips, electrical systems, chairs, and towers for signs of wear, stress, or fatigue.

Conduct maintenance work and minor repairs on electrical motors, auxiliary engines, brakes, and brake rotors.

Maintain certifications, licenses, and training as necessary.

Be able to understand and follow all ANSI, State, and Federal Guidelines.

Assist in other tasks as determined by the Lift Maintenance Manager, including but not limited to; lift construction, refinishing, lift operations, and other resort needs.

Willing and able to participate in all maintenance needs.

Maintain a positive attitude consistently, including during high-stress situations.

Be able to work concurrently with all Resort staff and encourage a productive work environment.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to have a flexible schedule during the winter season (days/nights and/or weekdays/weekends)

Comfortable working outdoors in summer/winter including inclement weather

Must be able to lift/carry up to 60 pounds

Must have at least 2 years of Lift Maintenance experience

Able to stand and sit for long periods, use ladders and work at variable heights up to 50 feet.
